The History of Javan
Located near Helston, on the Lizard peninsular in Cornwall, Javan Sports Cars Limited was formed by its founder, Javan Smith, in 2003 in order to build the Javan R1 Speedster. The Company moved to its present premises, a new purpose built facility, in 2006 when the prototype Javan R1 was nearing completion.
Javan has had a passion for race cars and motor sport in general since childhood and was involved in the motorsport industry until moving to Cornwall some 16 years ago.
Javan started making scratch built, very large scale models for both racing teams and sponsors, plus a range of historic race car models for enthusiasts. These latter models became very well known and have been sold all over the world.
In 2002, an opportunity to realize 'one of those dreams' presented itself and after a telephone call to Andrew Fletcher, then Javan’s assistant, and some long and hard thinking lasting about 50 seconds, the decision to go into the full size motor car business was taken!
Andrew Fletcher, now production director of Javan Sports Cars Limited has lived on the Lizard Peninsular virtually all his life and has a history of model making, model aircraft design and manufacture and mechanical engineering. These, together with his computer skills make Andrew an ideal production director, CAD and CAM knowledge make for an excellent relationship with suppliers.
