1938 Vauxhall DX 14/6

Comments

Vauxhall Motors is a British automotive company founded in 1857, which began manufacturing cars in 1903 and was acquired by GM in 1925.

Towards the end of 1934, Vauxhall’s famous Light Six range, the ASY and ASX Series, were phased out to be replaced by a new and far more modern looking range, the DX and DY Types (DY being the Twelve-Six and DX being the Fourteen-Six variant).

With the introduction of these new models came independent front suspension for the first time on a popular priced British car. This was another Vauxhall ‘first’, for the Cadet range of 1931 – 1933 had been the first British car to be equipped with a synchromesh gearbox. The new ’D’ Series was largely responsible for Vauxhall’s sales record of over 25000 units in 1935 and priced at GBP225.00, the DX represented extremely good value with six cylinder power.

This now rare Pre-War 1938 Vauxhall 14/6 DX Series is Chassis #: 730022. It is in VERY GOOD CONDITION especially when considering it is 74 years old.

Rarely driven and always garaged, body is straight, rust free and comes with VERY GOOD paint.

Leather Interior ORIGINAL and in well preserved condition. New Carpet and new hood lining.

VERY GOOD Mechanically and EXCELLENT 6 cylinder motor, which cruises beautifully at 50 miles per hour.

Good rubber. Good Battery. Good Tires.

Very few good condition survivors of this pre-war model left.

An appreciating collectable vehicle forming part of New Zealand’s automotive history.
